Christmas is coming and we're very happy because we stay at home and we celebrate Jesus birth with our relatives. It's a religious festivity and usually we go to mess on Christmas midnight or Christmas morning!!! Many persons the 8th of december do the Christmas Tree with colorful balls, Christmas decorations and a lot of lights!
In the past, in Italy, there was the tradition that Befana gives us sweets and presents but now Santa Claus took the position of Befana!
CHRISTMAS FOOD!!!
The Christmas lunch contains some tipical italian dishes like TORTELLINI, LASAGNE, PASTA in general, ROAST and the final dish is PANDORO or PANETTONE!!
All the families come together in their houses or in restaurants to celebrate the Xmas.
TRADITION
There're a lot of traditions here in Italy about Christmas; one of this is interchange presentes the week before Xmas and put them under the Xmas Tree. There is another tradition: near the Christmas tree we make the "Crib", that represent the Jesus birth and the adoration by the kings of Epiphany.

EPIPHANY
Epiphany is celebrated on 6th of january, it's an old tradition according to an old woman comes riding a broom in each house, to give some sweets to good children, and to bad children she leaves coal. The children waiting "Befana", prepare a colourful sock, where she will put presents, and they hang it to the chimney.
La befana vien di notte/ con le scarpe tutte rotte/ il vestito alla romana/ viva viva la Befana!
Befana comes at night/ with broken shoes/a roman dress/ hurray hurray Befana!

CARNIVAL
We celebrate this festivity the second tuesday of february.Usually all the people disguise themselves with colorful mask and strange clothes. We eat typical food like: "sfrappole" fried pasta with icing sugar," castagnole, made with pasta and chestnuts.
The last day of Carnival is called MARTEDì GRASSO. Guys meet each other in the principal square of the town and they spray foam to have fun. Here in Imola, colorful and funny chariots process in the main street and children follow them on foot throwing confetti.

SAN VALENTINE'S DAY 
On the 14th February, lovers celebrate their love gifting sweets and flowers to each other. On 15th February, singles "feast" their freedom..=D
EASTER
This festivity is celebrated on march or april. Here in Italy we eat chocolate's eggs and into each egg there is a little toy or a surprise. Easter is also a religious festivity and people go to the mass because Jesus died in these days; during the mass there is the benediction of the eggs. After the mass people come back home with a limb of olive that symbolize peace.

TYPICAL EASTER FOOD
At lunch we and our family meet each other and we eat first the blessed eggs. Then we eat a typical main course of their town, the second course is lamb's or rabbit's roast. Finally we eat a typical cake called "colomba pasquale" that has candies and almonds onthe top.

THE DAY OF THE REPUBLIC
This festivity is celebrated on the 2nd of June and we don't go to school. In this day we celebrate the birth of the republic that was born on 2nd of June 1946. In Rome, the president of the republic, that currently is Napolitano Giorgio, makes a speech and since 2001, it has been introduced the parade with all military units.
The last 3 presidents have been Pertini, Ciampi and Napolitano.
